Crittenden County occupies the far eastern edge of Arkansas, bordered by the Mississippi River and sitting directly across from Memphis, Tennessee. Marion serves as the county seat and the hub of all judicial activity in the county. Formed in 1825 and named for Robert Crittenden, the county operates a multi-tiered court system — one Circuit Court and six District Courts spread across communities including West Memphis, Earle, Gilmore, Turrell, and Marion itself. Anyone needing to track a pending case, obtain certified copies of court documents, or research the history of a legal proceeding will need to identify the correct court and follow the appropriate request process.

For Arkansas cases, publicly available court case information can be found through official court resources, clerk offices, courthouse terminals, and state-managed online tools. ArkansasCourts.us may assist residents in locating relevant court information and understanding which resources are available for case searches in the state.

How to Look Up a Court Case in Crittenden County?

The most accessible way to search Crittenden County court cases remotely is through the Arkansas Judiciary Case Search portal, which allows the public to look up case information by case ID, citation number, or party name. The portal covers cases filed in courts using the state’s case management system and includes filtering options to narrow results by court type, date, and case status.

For circuit court records specifically, the Circuit Clerk’s office also links to the CourtConnect case search system, which provides direct access to docket information for Crittenden County Circuit Court cases.

In-person requests can be made directly at the Circuit Clerk’s Office during regular business hours:

For district court case records, requestors must contact the specific district court where the case was heard. All six district courts operate independently, and each maintains its own records. Written requests may be submitted by mail to the relevant court. For circuit court records requested by mail, include the party name, case number if known, and a description of the specific documents needed, along with any applicable copy fee payment.

Are Court Records Public in Crittenden County?

The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) establishes that public records in Arkansas — including most court records — are open to inspection and copying by any citizen of the state. FOIA requests may be submitted in person, by telephone, by mail, by fax, or electronically to the custodian of the records, and the law does not require that requests be made in writing. Entities receiving a request must generally respond promptly.

Despite this broad presumption of openness, several categories of Crittenden County court records are shielded from public disclosure:

  • Juvenile court records are confidential under Arkansas Code § 9-27-309, and may be closed at the circuit court’s discretion, with all records of a juvenile expunged upon reaching age twenty-one
  • Adoption records are sealed and inaccessible to the public except through a court order demonstrating good cause
  • Custody disputes and sensitive family law matters may be restricted to protect the parties involved, particularly minor children
  • Records containing personal identifiers — including Social Security numbers, medical information, and financial account details — are subject to mandatory redaction before public release
  • Records sealed by court order or by operation of state or federal statute are withheld regardless of the underlying case type
  • Arrest records connected to ongoing investigations and records that could compromise witnesses in protective custody may also be withheld

Where no exemption applies, civil judgments, criminal case dispositions, domestic relations filings, and probate records are generally available for public inspection.
